Cusco, the capital of the Incan Empire, is one of the most fascinating tourist destinations of our time. The urban design is still comprised of original Incan walls which later became the base of colonial construction and is home to numerous significant archeological sites.
This tour provides a journey through the history of one of the most developed civilizations in South America and includes the most important locations within Cusco city and its surrounding areas. You will leave with an appreciation and understanding of the various archeological complexes and religious sites for which the Incans are famed.
We begin the tour with a hotel pick up before moving onto the following attractions:
Cathedral: A colonial religious monument of extraordinary artistic value
Koricancha: Incan religious site known as the “Sun Temple,” known for the impressive engineering used in its construction
Saqsayhuaman: An impressive fortress of massive stones and outstanding architecture situated 3km outside the city of Cusco
Cristo Blanco: 5km outside the city center, this statue of Christ with his arms outstretched provides an unforgettable panorama of Cusco and Andes
Qenqo: A labyrinth used used as a ceremonial enter for rituals preparing for the afterlife
PucaPucara: A large, red granite Incan fortress
Tambomachay: A sacred site to worship water – traditionally known as the “Water Plaza”
