We pass by your hotel or lodging between 7:00 and 7:45 a.m. to leave for the Abra de Málaga (4,316 masl). AquiCar, on our route we will pass through the Sacred Valley of the Incas until we reach the Malaga pass, which is the highest point of the route, where we will have a small stop and from where we can appreciate the scenic beauty of the place.
We begin the descent towards the jungle eyebrow passing through different altitudinal floors where we can appreciate the scenic beauty surrounded by majestic snow-capped mountains, rivers and forests until we reach the town of Santa María, where the unpaved dirt road begins, where we will have a small stop for the use of services and purchase of snacks, water, etc. then we continue our way to the town of Santa Teresa arriving at 2:00 p.m. approximately, where we will have lunch at a restaurant in the area (note, lunch is basic since there are no good restaurants in the area).
After lunch we will arrive at the Hydroelectric. Here we have 2 options:
- Take the train from the Hidroeléctrica to Aguas Calientes, for which you must buy your roundtrip train tickets that same moment, the travel time is 50 minutes.
- The other option is to walk for approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes from Hidroeléctrica to the town of Aguas Calientes.
In both cases, the meeting point in Aguas Calientes will be in the Main Square from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm where the guide will locate you and give all the information about the visit to Machupicchu, in addition to taking you to your accommodation.
